I was first introduced to breath work and meditation, then yoga, when I was 18. I hated watching my breath - my mind revolted! But I stuck with it… My boyfriend at the time gave me a yoga book of his mother’s that I still have to this day. This book was full of wonderful information and was a little handbook I dove into. It was not by any famous yoga teacher, but it was a lifeline.
At 23, I started training in Butoh, Japanese contemporary dance in London - where Kundalini yoga formed the basis in training. I soon had a home practice and started to develop yoga flows through dance and based on Sun salutations.
I began teaching in 2008 and qualified with the British Wheel of Yoga. More recently, I went to Yoga Body for my 50 hour Yoga Trapeze Teacher certificate. The whole process of teaching for me is enabling students to develop themselves. It is always a totally personal journey and it is about developing your consciousness. For this breath is key.
